Originally from New York, I’ve been making my way around Europe for the past 3 1/2 years, teaching English, as well as tackling a variety of freelance projects.

After a year studying in Spain, (and then a couple back in the states) I headed first to Italy, then Germany, and now as of June 2013 I’ve made the circle complete(-ish) moving to Madrid to pursue a Master’s, continue teaching, and eat a whole lot of tapas (while being completely relieved to live somewhere I speak the language again).
I decided to start this blog to write and share a little bit about some of my favorite places and experiences with you, whether you’re traveling, living abroad, or just hold a curiosity like me about how life is lived in other places.
Please feel free to leave a comment, ask a question, and follow me on twitter (@balenciagamos) if you like what you find here, or if there’s something you’d like to see more of, just let me know!
Thanks for visiting!
Ciao Kat, nice to “meet you” on here. It sounds like you’ve had some great adventures in Europe, so keep up the writing! Can I ask where you’re originally from?? Take care!
Thank you so much! 🙂 I’m originally from New York (city and suburbs)
Love this blog! How did you become an English Teacher abroad? Sounds like a great way to see the world and get paid! =)
Thank you very much! Teaching english is a really good way to be able to live and work abroad. You don’t get paid much, but that can be fine, depending on what your priorities are! I got started doing this by taking the CELTA certification course for 5 weeks in Milan, then I began teaching private lessons and eventually found work with a school that could help me get a residency and work permit. Depending on your nationality, that legal stuff is usually the trickiest part. Let me know if you have any other specific questions about this!
