frescoes of villa d’este, tivoli



  

I was really taken by these incredibly exuberant and detailed frescoes inside the Villa d’Este in Tivoli, a small hillside town outside of Rome. The villa is internationally famous for its enchantingly gorgeous gardens, which I will post about soon. But I wanted to start inside, with these little animals and angels, gods and goddesses, crests and flourishes.

And these sure are rooms with a view:
